FAQ, tips and tricks - ASPI
Description :
- ASPI stands for "Advanced SCSI Programming Interface". It was originally developed by Adaptec and used to communicate with the SCSI controllers and the Operating system.
- Now most recording software and other programs use the ASPI layer to become "direct access" to the hardware devices such as CD-rom driver and CD-writers.
- Some recording software's have even integrated their own ASPI layer in their software package. (Nero Burning Rom, Easy CD Creator)
- The ASPI Layer contains four files (WINASPI32.DLL, WINASPI.DLL, ASPI.SYS, WOWPOST.EXE) which "mediates" between the application programs and the host adapter drivers.
