Press Release PX-810SA

Press Release, 9th of May 2007

Multi-format DVD drive to satisfy demand for high end SATA users

Plextor, the personal storage and high reliability optical drive manufacturer, today announces the latest DVD-RW drive from its new PX-800 series: the Serial-ATA PX-810SA. At 18x, it is still one of the fastest drives in the world [-Plextor was the first manufacturer to launch 18x products with the PX-760 series]. It also incorporates multi-format (DVD+/-R & DVD-RAM) technology to satisfy the demand for high-end SATA drives from enthusiast/professional users.

Rudy de Meirsman, Sales & Marketing Manager of Plextor Europe, says: ?Plextor is leading the market for SATA optical products and we are seeing a huge growth in demand. SATA is fast becoming the connection of choice for all types of users. As internal hard disks have switched over to SATA technology, so optical drives are following ? and Plextor is well positioned to satisfy demand from both consumers and system builders.?

The growth in SATA is for a number of good reasons: it is scalable, allows more flexibility in system design and adds future-proofing for the computing platform. In addition, it enables system reliability improvements to airflow and thermal dynamics, as well as easier installation and upgrades. Motherboard manufacturers have been supplying the technology onboard for the past 18 months and consumers are eager to take advantage of this convenient and latest technology.

The PX-810SA is capable of the following DVD speeds: DVD+/-R - 18x; DVD+/-R DL - 10x; DVD+RW - 8x; DVD-RW - 6x; DVD-RAM ? 12x; and CD-R 40x.

Plextor has developed the drive using the company?s advanced technology knowledge to meet the demands of the high-end marketplace. Aimed at enthusiast/professional users who require the ultimate in quality and speed.

A comprehensive range of full and trial software is included from: Plextor (PlexTools Professional LE), Nero Express 7 Essentials SE.
