Plextor unveils external hard disk products for SOHO/SMEs at
CeBit 2005
- Broader storage product range includes NAS solution

Plextor today is unveiling three new product lines at CeBit 2005 (hall 21, stand C65), Hannover - external hard disks, an external network hard disk and an external floppy disk drive. Offering up to 250GB of external storage, the drives offer the same premium quality and reliability associated with Plextor optical devices.

In addition to optical storage, flash memory and, more recently, digital video converters, Plextor is now offering portable hard disks for any users requiring extra mobile storage and a professional network hard disk for small businesses that need a NAS solution."

Plextor is working with I-O DATA DEVICE, INC., the largest memory and storage peripherals supplier in the Japanese market, to bring these high quality products to the European market.

Plextor Portable HDD
The growth of digital media such as video, audio and pictures is driving the demand for portable storage devices. Plextor has provided the ideal solution: high capacity, fast USB 2.0, highly portable bus powered hard disks, that require no separate power supply. They are available in two sizes, the PX-PH04U is 40GB and the PX-PH08U is 80GB and both come with a useful write protection switch.

Professional Network HDD
Plextor has overcome the problem of small business networks requiring extra storage and back-up: a convenient 250GB Network Attached Storage (NAS) device that comes equipped with extra features. As well as providing instant shared storage across the network, the PX-EH25L includes: a print server that can share a printer over the network when connected to it via USB; and an automated backup scheduler from the NAS to a USB connected external HDD of the same capacity. Additionally, the Professional Network HDD is both secure and flexible: it includes a high security feature so that the administrator can limit access to certain folders; and it can be configured as a dedicated FTP server.

Portable Floppy Disk Drive
There is still significant demand for external floppy disk units from users making quick back-ups or for data exchanging, in addition, laptop manufacturers are eliminating the drives from their chassis.

Availability and Warranty
All the above products will be available at the end of April 2005 from the network of Plextor dealers.
